Santa Lucía's Story

Santa Lucía Skincare is born on a family coffee farm in Costa Rica. Made from ingredients that are potent superfruits from the rainforest, volcanoes, and Carribbean and Pacific oceans. Santa Lucía products are good for your body, soul and mother earth.

Finca Carbonal

Located on the foothills of the Póas Volcano, Finca Carbonal has some of the most fertile soil on earth. Volcanic soil is especially fertile due to release of plant nutrients such as potassium and phosphorus. Finca Carbonal has been owned by the Saborío family for 3 generations, and today it has grown into an expansive nature reserve and space for regenerative agriculture.

Our Founder

With my family in the coffee business, I grew up in awe of the spirit and power of plants. I was taught to cherish farming, especially coffee, watching how every year a flower would turn into a bean, then eventually a grain, and ultimately our morning cup of coffee.

My family gifted me a deep love for Costa Rica and its unique biodiversity. As a child, my mother captured my imagination with stories of her adventures with my grandfather exploring the jungle, mountains and oceans of Costa Rica.

When I became a mother, one of my many new instincts was to ensure every ingredient my baby consumed was of the highest quality. I grew profoundly aware of the importance of what we put in our bodies and how we take care of ourselves. I immediately went back to the farm I loved so much as a child to gather ingredients to make our own homemade products for my baby.

It was then I realized the power and purity of Costa Rican ingredients.

I currently live in Miami with my beautiful sons and husband. Watching my children treasure our trips to Costa Rica fills me with joy. Even at as young children, they already realize that nature is a gift to admire and protect.

My wish is to give a little bit of Costa Rica to everyone who uses Santa Lucía Skincare.

Santa Lucía Tradition

Santa Lucías are small purple flowers that grow wild amongst the weeds in the mountains of Costa Rica at the end of the year. Farmers pick las santa lucías to gift them to their loved ones. Tradition says that santa lucías bring blessings to those who carry them. They often grow amongst the papaya trees, coffee plants and lemon trees. In December, they bloom and cover Finca Carbonal’s fields in a light shade of purple.
